Services Performed in Winter

You might be wondering: what exactly can a roofing company do in the winter? If we have a mild winter with minimal snow and higher temperatures, roof replacements are still doable. However, if we’re in for a winter full of blizzards and below-freezing temperatures, a full roof replacement will have to wait for the spring. But in the meantime, we can still complete all of our other services.

Window Installation

Many times, homeowners don’t realize they need window replacements until seeing their high energy bills in winter. If you feel cold when sitting by a window, that means that cold air is coming in—as a result, your furnace has to work harder to keep the house at the desired temperature. Choosing new, well-insulated windows is a proactive way to lower energy costs.

Siding Repair/Replacement

Your home’s siding develops cracks over time due to expanding and retracting with the changing seasons. Those cracks let the cold in and the heat out, resulting in higher energy bills just like with poorly insulated windows. New siding is built to last, which is essential with the Midwest’s drastic temperature changes and intense winters.

Gutter Replacement

It’s important to have good gutters to keep water from entering your home. When snow on the roof melts, your gutters need to be able to direct that water away from the house. Snow and ice can wreak havoc on your gutters, so you may find yourself needing a replacement in the middle of winter.

Ice Dam Removal

Ice dams occur most often from poorly insulated attics. When heat from the home escapes through the attic, it heats the snow and ice on the roof, causing it to melt. But when that water reaches the edges of the roof that aren’t heated, they freeze again, causing an ice dam that can damage your roof and gutters. We use an ice dam removal tool that produces a gentle cloud of steam—high temperature and low pressure is essential to removing the ice dam and not damaging your roof.
